If you have yet to tune into the 2018 Winter Olympics, you may want to rethink your priorities because Team U.S.A just set the bar pretty freaking high.

The tables have officially turned following last night’s figure skating competition in Pyeongchang when U.S. figure skater Mirai Nagasu, hailing from Arcadia, California, took the ice to perform her highly anticipated routine where she would attempt to land a triple axel.

And FYI guys, SHE LANDED IT. And not only did she land it, but she landed it with such poise and not a single wobble… why am I still talking? ROLL THE TAPES.

So not only has Mirai become the first American woman to land the triple axel in the Olympics, but she is the third EVER to accomplish the rare feat in the women’s free skate.

And I just have to point out that landing a triple axel in figure skating terms, is like… completing a Rubiks cube or like not making a fool of yourself on a first date, or IDK just something that’s nearly impossible.

The 24-year-old was the first to skate of the five women, and just 21 seconds in, set the tone for what would be the toughest competition to follow. Naturally this land, along with a flawless routine generated a standing ovation from the entire arena. Team U.S.A ended up taking home the bronze medal last night, but I’m thinking this personal feat for Mirai will go on to mean more than a medal ever will.

In some not-so-fortunate news, South Korean skater Yura Min suffered a wardrobe malfunction during her routine alongside her partner Alexander Gamelin, when the top of her outfit began slipping off her shoulders.

Without even blinking, she quickly adjusted her arms to prevent the leotard from slipping any further — oh, and all while continuing to crush her routine. Photos and videos quickly made their rounds on social media, causing panic among viewers, but thankfully Yura kept her composure, and Alexander even came to her rescue, helping pull her top back up before anything drastic were to really happen. Talk about one heck of a partner!

Seriously though, guys, I mean what I said when I mentioned that you HAVE to tune into the 2018 Olympics – these were just two examples of the craziness that has and undoubtedly will ensure over the next couple weeks, but right now I want to know what you thought of Mirai’s triple axel land so get to talking down here in the comments, and be sure to give team USA some love.

After that, click right over here to see all the rage on these fat unicorn cakes… seriously, I’m not making this up. Thanks for hanging out with me here on Newsfeed, I’m your girl Joslyn Davis and I’ll see you next time.
