The city of New York and the entire country is still reeling following this week’s tragic events.
And now President Trump is calling for the suspect to receive the death penalty. Twitter is reacting!
Earlier this week, a suspect by the name of Sayfullo Saipov killed 8 people and injured 12 more in New York City, running over pedestrians and cyclists in the lower portion of the city. He is now facing terrorism charges and allegedly says he was inspired by ISIS videos. Law enforcement noted in it’s report that the attacker asked to have the ISIS flag hung up in his hospital room and that he felt good about what he’d done.
Cut to President Trump hitting his twitter account to post a series of three tweets starting the day after the attack, where he stated QUOTE : NYC terrorist was happy as he asked to hang ISIS flag in his hospital room. He killed 8 people, badly injured 12. SHOULD GET DEATH PENALTY! Would love to send the NYC terrorist to Guantanamo but statistically that process takes much longer than going through the Federal system… There is also something appropriate about keeping him in the home of the horrible crime he committed. Should move fast. DEATH PENALTY!
And the internet is reacting, with many questioning why Trump’s reaction to the attack in NYC was considerably swifter than his reaction to the recent tragedies in Charlotteville and Las Vegas. For the record, Trump reacted to Charlottesville 48 hours following the events and he reacted to the Las Vegas which occurred on October 1st on October 3rd.
Shannon Watts Tweeted out: In Donald Trump’s America, black and brown people deserve the death penalty. White people get thoughts and prayers.
Shannon also later tweeted: How Trump responded one month ago when a white man shot nearly 600 Americans vs Manhattan terrorism.

Shaun King posted: Advocating the death penalty before trial isn’t justice, it’s a lynching. I despise what this man did to our city, but Trump is wrong here.
Eugene G spoke out to say: The President of the United States screaming for the DEATH PENALTY is the modern-day equivalent of a monarch yelling «off with his head!»
