Joey King, who stars as Elle in the hit Netflix romcom The Kissing Booth, recently opened up to Seventeen about everything from how she feels about doing a Kissing Booth sequel, to what it was like kissing her fine as f*ck co-star AND IRL boyfriend, Jacob Elordi, for the first time.
Fans have straight up DEMANDED a sequel to the Kissing Booth all over social media, because the movie ends with Elle and Noah’s relationship status up in the air. So, would Joey, Jacob and gang be down to return for a part II to everyone’s favorite new romcom? Short answer, hell YES.
She told the mag QUOTE, “Of course, I would love to work with everyone again. If the opportunity arose, who knows, right? Something could happen. Something might. I don’t know. If there was a sequel, I have no idea. I’m like the last to know anything. I promise you, but if there was a sequel, my prediction would be hopefully Elle and Noah stay together. Elle goes to visit Noah at college. Of course, there has to be some crazy things that get out of hand, but I don’t know. I really hope that a lot of the original characters, if there was a sequel, like the OMG Girls and Tuppen and all those amazing characters would definitely be in it.”
Hmmm…sounds like Joey should be in that writer’s room when the sequel DOES happen. Because come on, we KNOW it’s gonna happen. Netflix just knows how to keep us thirsty.
In the interview Joey also shared how adorably awkward her first kiss with co-star Jacob Elordi was. She recalled QUOTE, “I remember the first time I had to kiss Jacob! That was crazy. I was so nervous. So, Jacob and I were in our director’s office rehearsing the scene. He like, ‘Ok, we’re going to rehearse today, blah, blah, blah, and we’re going to rehearse this scene.’ I flip to the page and it’s our gazebo kiss, the super passionate, intense one. I was like, ‘Omg! I just met this guy. I have to make out with this person in an office.’ He was nervous. I was nervous. It all worked out, but it was hilarious because I was in a small square office, trying to figure out how to run up to him and grab his face and kiss him. And you know, he’s pretty tall. Figuring that out the first time was a bit challenging. I think we hit heads a couple of times.”
Having to repeatedly jump into Jacob Elordi’s arms and kiss him? Sounds like a REAL tough job.
Of course, the pair probably have that move down to a T these days, as they’ve had quite a lot of practice since the movie wrapped last year. As you probably know by now, Joey and Jacob fell in love in real life and started dating while filming The Kissing Booth, and they are INSANELY cute with each other on Instagram. Like, #GOALS doesn’t even BEGIN to describe it.
