Sofia Carson is arguably one of the biggest Disney stars right now, but believe it or not, she almost didn’t land her iconic role in “Descendants.”
What’s up guys? It’s Emile Ennis Jr. here with Clevver News and sometimes even the biggest celebs don’t have their big break on the first try.
Let’s rewind to way back to 2015, before we were introduced to our fav Disney villain offspring in the first Descendants.
Sofia Carson was just a 20 something going to audition after audition after audition.
You know, like the rest of us.
She said she went to over 200 auditions, which I must say, is dedication, and finally landed an audition with Disney for a lead in Descendants.
Even getting your foot in the door at Disney is a VERY big deal.
She auditioned with Kenny Ortega, you know the legend responsible for directing High School Musical, Hocus Pocus, and all of our other favorite movies, and just when Sofia thought she nailed the audition…
She received some disappointing news.
But that didn’t stop her, she was determined to pursue her dream.
And even though she thought that role in Descendants was long gone, she got a call back a month later and was asked to come back in for another audition.
Which is just proof that it’s never really over til the movie is literally playing on screens.
And according to Sofia all you need to succeed is preparation, passion, luck, and a little pixie dust.
Brb looking for my pixie dust so all the people who I auditioned with in the past, give me another shot!
Anyway, I respect Sofia’s resilience and her fans are glad she never gave up.
One person tweeted quote, “thank you for sharing your story with us, this is so inspiring and makes me happy”
And another said quote, “I cant believe how far you’ve come. I am so proud of you and I will always be rooting for you.”
And lucky for us, Descendants 3 is coming out soon, so we are going to get more of Sofia as Evie this summer.
Disney tweeted that the movie will premiere on Friday August 2nd and my DVR is already set.
