Lili Reinhart credits Demi Lovato as her Mental Health Role Model & Embraces Being ‘Imperfect’

We can always count on Lili to keep it real

Last night Lili Reinhart received the Conscious award at Variety’s Power of Young Hollywood event in West Hollywood and during her speech, Lili spoke all about the pressures that come along with being a role model, saying QUOTE “With the expectation of being perfect idols, our mistakes are often amplified, our choices are criticized, and our words are scrutinized. That notion scared me for the longest time, because I know I am not perfect, and I knew I was never going to live up to that perfect expectation.”
Lili then went on to share that instead of hiding her imperfections and worrying about living up to a certain standard, she embraces the good along with the bad, saying QUOTE “I wanted to present myself to the world without a filter, and that meant being honest about my own insecurities, my own shortcomings and my own mistakes.»

I think we can all agree that Lili has always been one to be extremely vocal on sensitive topics and her vulnerability is one of the many reasons her fans look up to her.

But that’s not all. Variety also did a Q&A with Lili, where she revealed that Demi Lovato was actually her mental health role model before becoming famous, saying QUOTE “I remember her as being the first person [I heard] talk about depression and growing up with an eating disorder. I personally have not had an eating disorder, but her openness and honesty about her mental health was really cool to me, I was like, ‘Oh, that’s how I feel! She’s famous and beautiful and has money, and it’s strange to think that she could still feel that way, too.'»

We can definitely relate to what Lili said about Demi Lovato, but right now I want to hear from you guys. How did you feel about Lili’s speech at Variety’s event?
