In just a week Lady Gaga make history and take on the world’s largest stage: the Super Bowl Halftime Show. As usual details about her performance have been very secretive, but here’s everything we know, so far.
Like her predecessors Beyonce and Coldplay, Lady Gaga will NOT be getting paid for this performance. The event draws 200 million eyeballs, so what Gaga will lose in direct payment she’ll make up for with valuable exposure.
The second thing we know for sure is this halftime show has been Mother Monster’s lifelong dream. In a behind-the-scenes clip from the NFL Gaga shares that she’s been planning this show since she was 4 and knows exactly what she’s going to do.
While there have been reports that the NFL has requested Gaga refrain from any political agendas during the show, the league claims that’s not true. And according to Entertainment Weekly Gaga was never interested in that anyway.
What Mother Monster IS interested in, is making the performance a family affair. She told Radio Disney back in October, “…I want every husband and wife kissing… every kid laughing. In my mind they’re having this really powerful family experience watching the Super Bowl.”
But just because the show will be family-friendly doesn’t make Gaga won’t be taking some risks. If you believe the rumors, Gaga is trying to figure out a way to enter the performance from the roof at the NRG stadium in Houston. According to The New York Post, “They’re writing up multiple plans about how to safely get her on the roof, including potentially a hole in the ceiling of the dome.” The NRG Stadium has a retractable fabric roof that can open and close in under 10 minutes- so this stunt may be possible. Keep in mind this hasn’t been confirmed, but we DO know there will be some sort of stunt involved.
And if Gaga is going to pull off a stunt, she needs to be in fantastic shape. Gaga has been sharing moments of her performance prep on Instagram. She posted a photo with her trainer and revealed, “Training. Everyday all day”.
Finally, we know that Gaga will be in good company during her big moment. Collaborator and friend Tony Bennett will be featured in a Pepsi Ad that introduces her halftime concert. As of now, no other cameos are confirmed but we wouldn’t be mad if Beyonce popped out for a snippet of their duet “Telephone”.
