Ari-Chella shut down Coachella Weekend 1 with so many shocks and surprises we are shook!
What’s up guys, it’s Sussan Mourad here for Clevver News – and I finally got some sleep last night after being up so late to watching Ariana’s Coachella livestream the night before. {BUT I mean, it’s fine because with a performance like that, who needs sleep anyway?
OK you Guys, Ari tore up Coachella over the weekend and literally Tore Up Hearts in the process. She made history as she became the youngest female artist to headline Coachella and there were so many shocks and surprises, so I’m just going to dive straight in. (Yup, yup)
Incase for whatever reason you haven’t heard – Ari closed out the first weekend of Coachella with a Bang AND a Boy Band! Making every 90’s baby’s dreams come true, after some teasing in the days leading up to her performance, Ari brought out 4/5th’s of *NSYNC to join her on stage and life will never be the same. [punch in moment]
Although it might’ve seemed unexpected to some at first, fans had caught on to some of the clues posted to social media in the lead up to the performance and as Ariana had previously sampled *NSYNC’s «It Makes Me I’ll» for «Break Up With Your Girlfriend,» it made complete sense.
The group performed “Break Up With Your Girlfriend” with Ari, in addition to «Tearin’ Up My Heart» which literally tore up hearts – taking the nostalgia to the next level.
«I’ve been rehearsing my whole f**king life for this moment» Ari shouted out to the crowd before launching into it.
Ari, us too. I think we had been waiting for it our entire life, but just didn’t know, until you gave it to us.
Since the onstage reunion, Ariana has been gushing how stoked she is about what went down, posting to instagram images of her and the boys, captioning,
QUOTE: “i’ll be recovering from this moment for the next twenty years tbh. the nicest human beings possible. ?
it can go either way when you meet your childhood heroes and no one has ever been kinder or cooler or sillier or more lovely to be around. ever!”
She also posted this image saying QUOTE “i am never going to stop posting about this unfollow me today”
The surprises didn’t stop there. Another shock surprise performance came from Diddy and Mase who performed «Mo Money Mo Problems» with Ariana as a tribute to late hip-hop artists Mac Miller (Grande’s ex-boyfriend), Nipsey Hussle, 2Pac, and Biggie.
There were some sound issues during the emotional performance, but it didn’t affect the crowd getting into it as the audience held peace signs up in the air.
Diddy shared his love and support for Ari, encouraging the crowd to applaud her. “She’s been through a whole lot, but she’s still standing,” he said. “Give it up for the number one artist in the world!”
Undoubtedly one of the biggest shock moments everyone’s been talking about is when long-time collaborator Nicki Minaj joined Ari on stage – the crowd erupted in excitement and the two ‘side by side’ looked fierce. Which is probably how Minaj might of been towards whoever was in charge of her earpiece for the night based on what happened next.
As you probably already know, Minaj joined Ari for “Side to Side,” and the pair then segued into “Bang Bang,” – But unfortunately Minaj couldn’t actually her two-song performance because of sound issues and technical malfunctions. The audio just kept chopping in and out. Minaj wasn’t happy. And it showed.
“We can’t hear anything!” Grande said frantically as she pointed to her earpiece.
It created an an awkward scene for Minaj, who seemed to lose audio in both ear pieces. Ari continued to sing and rally behind Minaj, who appeared at a loss for words. But honestly I thought it was pretty cute seeing Ari rap along.
The internet memes also erupted.
Miss Banks tweeted “nicki minaj to the sound engineers backstage at Coachella #ARICHELLA” with this video..

It sucks so much not only for Nicki but for the people who payed money to be there only to experience that moment. Like, people payed a lot of mf money to go to Coachella so they should be able to provide a smooth show at the minimum. Smh
